Spontanes und facettenreiche Zusammenspiel, gepaart mit einer erzählerischen kompositorischen Sprache, ziehen sich durch die Musik des Pianisten Luca Zambito. Dabei werden schon bestehende Formen weiter erforscht, aufgebrochen und neue erschaffen.

Mit Inspiration aus der Jazzgeschichte, moderner klassischer Harmonik, freier Improvisation und einem starken Fokus auf rhythmische Vielfalt geht der Pianist immer wieder auf die Suche nach neuen emotional bewegenden Momenten in der Musik. Diese können kompositorisch oder in der Improvisation entstehen. Die Offenheit diesen Parametern gegenüber, sie gedanklich kaum voneinander zu trennen, sondern dem Moment zu überlassen, lässt immer neue Überraschungen zu.

Nach seinem Bachelorstudium in Wien und Stockholm kehrte er wieder zurück in seine Heimatstadt München, um sein Schaffen als Jazzpianist und Komponist weiterzuführen und studierte bis zum Sommer 2022 noch Jazzklavier im Master an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. 2023 wurde er mit dem BMW Young Artist Jazz Award ausgezeichnet.

Neben seinem Schaffen als Sideman in der Münchner und Wiener Jazzszene ist Luca Zambito auch als Bandleader mit eigener Musik aktiv und widmet dem Komponieren und Zusammenstellen von Bands viel Zeit und Hingabe. Seine Zeit in Stockholm und der Einblick in die skandinavische Musikszene hat das Spielen und Entwickeln von Musik nochmals mit neuen Ideen und Erfahrungen angereichert.

2018 gewann er den LAG Jazzpreis mit der Wiener Band Tiktaalik, sowie im November 2021 den Jungen Münchner Jazzpreis mit seinem eigenen Projekt, dem Luca Zambito Quartett.

/Spontaneous and multi-faceted interplay, coupled with a narrative compositional language, run through the music of pianist Luca Zambito. In the process, already existing forms are further explored, broken up and new ones created.

Drawing inspiration from jazz history, modern classical harmony, free improvisation and a strong focus on rhythmic variety, the pianist is constantly searching for new emotionally moving moments in the music. These can arise compositionally or in improvisation.

The openness towards these parameters, hardly separating them mentally but leaving them to the moment, always allows for new surprises.

After completing his bachelor's degree in Vienna and Stockholm, he returned to his hometown of Munich to continue his work as a jazz pianist and composer, and continued to study jazz piano in his master's degree at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts until the summer of 2022. 2023 he was winner of the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award.

Besides his work as a sideman in the Munich and Vienna jazz scene, Luca Zambito is also active as a bandleader with his own music and devotes a lot of time and dedication to composing and putting together bands. His time in Stockholm and the insight into the Scandinavian music scene has once again enriched the playing and development of music with new ideas and experiences.
